Tuesday, December 14th
- Worked on the story about strange things falling from the sky
- Edison's Sausage tree
- Brainstorming
- Writing the story - finish for Thursday or Friday (in Math) is okay too
Monday, December 13th
- Collected the Trip Letter Assignment
- Those who could not finish due to power outages can hand it in any time this week without penalties
- Finished the Notice and Note Signposts Questions with a partner
- Discussed different things that have fallen from the sky - related to the Kentucky Meat Shower
- We will write a short story tomorrow related to the article
Tuesday, December 7th
- Peer Editing
- Good Copy of the Letter is due on Monday, December 13th
- Follow the MLA Formatting Guidelines
- Be sure to hand in your research, your rough work and your peer editing sheet with your good copy
- Homonyms practice - write a paragraph/story where you incorrectly use at least 10 homonyms
- Reminder - homonyms test Friday
Friday, December 3rd
- Wrote our vocabulary test
- Worked on the rough copy of the letter
- Complete the rough work this weekend if you did not do so in class
Wednesday, December 1st
- Pick a novel for the Independent Reading Assignment (IRA)
- It must be a novel (not non-fiction, not a biography, not a graphic novel)
- With a protagonist, a setting, a conflict and a climax
- You have ~ one month to finish it - we will start the project when we get back from the Christmas break
- You can choose a book from home, from my class library, from SORA or from the CVR library
- Friday I will ask you for your selection (as well as the number of pages in the book)
- Finished and reviewed the Simile and Metaphor worksheet
- Started writing the rough copy of the trip letter
- We will continue to write next class
